FAQs
Why should I choose EC4U?
At Electrician Courses 4U we offer real quality, realistically priced training with unique practical facilities to give you a training centre like no other. Our training team have years of industry and training experience behind them and are always willing to go the extra mile.
Why are your courses so cheap?
The simple answer is we are not cheap and there is no catch, some of our competitors are simply over pricing and uncompetitive! We manage all of our business costs with close scrutiny so that we can keep all of our overheads as low as possible and not pass any additional costs on to our customers. This in turn allows us to be competitive and realistic with our course prices.
What electrical work can I do after this course?
This course will allow you to carry out domestic electrical work after successful completion of the domestic installer course. You will be able to carry out any form of minor works such as adding to or altering an existing circuit. You will also be suitably qualified to carry out what is called notifiable work which can include the installation of a new circuit, a re-wire or work in a bathroom. The difference with notifiable work is that building control have to be informed.
Can I split the course up?
Yes, you can. Each of the course modules can be booked as a standalone course using the drop down menu at the top of the page. We would suggest keeping the courses in the order you find them in the Domestic Electrician Installation Course.
Can I make the payment in instalments?
If you wanted to break the payments up into more manageable chunks, consider our pay as you train option. You can purchase the online material for £390, and then put down a deposit of £450 to secure your in centre training dates. The balance for your in centre training will then be due 21 days before your training starts.
What are my next steps?
After completing your domestic installer course there’s nothing to stop you going out and carrying out electrical work straight away. If you wanted to expand your knowledge and skills, you could consider our Level 3 Inspection and Testing Package. This will teach you how to test three phase circuits that tend to be found in commercial environments as well as how to carry out periodic inspection and testing. If you are considering joining a Part P scheme provider in the future, find out more about becoming a qualified electrician.
Do I have to join a registration Scheme like the NICEIC after the course?
Absolutely not. You will be able to undertake non-notifiable and notifiable work, as long as building control are informed.
How do I gain experience?
You can gain experience in a number of ways. Working with an existing electrician is one possible route, carrying out only minor works until you start to gain more confidence is another. It’s worth remembering that you don’t need to be a member of a part p scheme to notify work, you can always go through building control if necessary. If it’s a question of feeling nervous working in customers’ homes, starting with work for family or friends is another possibility. After completing your course you will also be invited to join our EC4U alumni, a supportive network of other electricians who have trained at EC4U. You can use this forum to seek advice, ask questions and find fellow electricians who may be able to offer you experience.
Will you help me after the course?
Uniquely, we offer a closed forum to all of our customers which can be used to provide opportunities for networking for those that want to gain some experience as well as technical advice if the need arises. Every member of the forum will have gone through the same steps you will have undertaken leading to a very responsive and helpful community. We also offer a dedicated technical help line, meaning if you struggle with a solution to any issues you may be having during a job one of our experienced instructors will be able to offer advice and guidance. Read more about our after course support.
Do I need a Gold Card to become an electrician?
No, absolutely not. Gold Card is just one route you can take when becoming an electrician. If you are considering applying for a Gold Card in the future, find out more about becoming a qualified electrician.
