Course Duration
The duration of the Level 3 NVQ installation course varies based on how promptly you build your evidence portfolio and finish your AM2 assessment. The course typically takes between 6-12 months to complete.
The exams
Upon enrolment in this course, you are required to undergo a bridging assessment, consisting of a 90-minute short-answer question paper and a professional discussion. This assessment facilitates the transfer of your knowledge from the City & Guilds 2365 Level 3 Course to the NVQ 2357 Level 3 in Electrical Installation.
After completing your evidence portfolio, the final step to achieving your NVQ Level 3 Electrical qualification is the AM2 assessment. This final assessment is carried out by an independent assessor. To take the AM2, you will need to find a local NET centre centre and book the assessment through them.
FAQs
What is an AM2 assessment?
The AM2 assessment is an end-point assessment taken by anyone who completes Level 3 2357 NVQ. It is the last part of the NVQ and consists of an assessment that takes place over 2 days at an independent NET centre.
Can I apply for a Gold Card with the Level 3 NVQ Electrical Installation qualification?
Yes, provided you have also attained your 18th Edition Wiring Regulations and ECS Health and Safety qualifications.
Can I sign off on my own electrical work with this qualification?
The only way to sign off your own notifiable electrical work is to notify your local building control or to join a Part P scheme provider like the NICEIC.
What is an evidence portfolio?
You will be required to compile a portfolio of evidence that showcases your knowledge, skills and experience. The evidence will be uploaded and collated in your e-portfolio, an online platform enabling you to organise evidence and monitor your progress through the course. Your assessor will offer feedback through the e-portfolio so you can manage your evidence easily.
I have completed my Level 2 and 3 2365 qualifications elsewhere, can I still do the NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installation?
Of course. We simply require evidence of successful completion of both the C&G 2365 Level 2 and C&G 2365 Level 3.
Our four stage process
We have designed a route to help you become a qualified electrician in the most straightforward and flexible way possible. By starting with our Domestic Electrician Course you will be taught all the necessary skills and knowledge to start working as a domestic installer straight away, allowing you to immediately start building your experience whilst earning money. Many of the skills learnt during the first stage will not only be needed when starting out to become an electrician, but also necessary to transfer into the next stages and qualifications.
When you are ready, you will then complete the Level 2 2365 diploma, followed by the C&G 2365 Level 3 Diploma in Electrical Installations. Both of these qualifications then allow you to transfer the units achieved into the the NVQ qualification, essentially completing all the theory units of the NVQ, leaving you with just the evidence portfolio to build and complete.
